Numerical analysis and partial differential equations

    Head: Nicolas Burq
    Assistant: Valérie Linget
    Weekly seminar: Thursdays, 2pm

The research of the AN-EDP team covers a broad spectrum in analysis, mathematical physics, numerical analysis, modelling, and simulation.

Numerical analysis and the analysis of partial differential equations (PDEs) are major themes for the team, but many other aspects of analysis and applied analysis are also addressed:

    • Analysis of nonlinear evolution PDEs (dispersive equations, fluid and plasma mechanics)
    • Mathematical physics (spectral theory, semi-classical analysis, quantum field theory)
    • Calculus of variations (optimal transport, continuum mechanics, superconductivity)
    • Mathematical and numerical modelling (crowd movement, biology, reaction-diffusion equations, plasma)
    • Numerical analysis and scientific computing (finite volumes and lattice Boltzmann schemes, high performance computing, optimization)
